We have only one life to live and we would like to live this life meaningfully , properly , well balanced and with full vigour. In the end , you do want to feel happy and satisfied with yourself with what you have created - your life. It is like an artist's creation. At the end of it , you should be able to enjoy the scene.
Life can be divided into four major phases - childhood, adolescence , adulthood, old age. Childhood pretty much is spent in exploring, learning , stumbling and laying a foundation to your personality. Adolescence phase is a transitioning phase from childhood to adulthood. Mostly the ideas are conflicting and it is very crucial to get a good guidance in this phase , because this phase is where a direction is set for the future life. If lucky enough , the direction is set right , and the next phase is spent in consolidating this direction , establishing a stronghold and moving on in this direction. This phase is where the majority of accomplishments occur , in general. Oldage , still you can contribute positively , if there was a balance maintained all along.
In all these phases, one important common factor ,mostly ignored , is to have a balance between various aspects. They are spiritual , physical , mental or personal ,financial, relationships and career. While maintaining balance , attention has to be paid to the importance of priority as well.
The number one priority in life is to have a spiritual stronghold. This is the basis or foundation on which you can build a small house or a huge mansion. This aspect acts like an anchor for the huge ship of life. Would you venture into sea on a huge ship , if there was no anchor ? Our life's journey can be compared to the journey of a ship on the vast oceans. The ship needs a captain, a rudder , an anchor and a working mechanism for propelling the ship forward , at a minimum. Your life's captain is your mind. Your rudder is your reasoning power or intellect. Anchor is the powerful presence of spirituality. Working mechanism is the thought process and good judgement.
A table to be stable needs its 4 legs to be of equal size ; any difference in the size , and the table would be wobbly. Same is the case with our life and its principal facets. If all the facets are developed simultaneously , at the same pace, life will sail smoothly , without disturbances. Any discrepancy in the simultaneous development in any one facet , it shows up as some discord in life.
